Ellie was diagnosed with Wilms Tumor (an aggressive kidney cancer) on April 22, 2008.  Her right kidney was removed along with the 4 pound tumor.  Since the tumor had also traveled to her lung, she was considered Stage IV with unfavorable diagnosis.  This meant that she would undergo more surgery, radiation and 40 weeks of chemo.  A little more than a year after her diagnosis, with many hospitalizations, surgeries and complications, she has been declared to be in Remission as of June 2009.  Ellie is doing well and has started preschool!
