Hope, age 5, was diagnosed with High Risk, Stage 4 Neuroblastoma on April 3rd, 2007. Hope received six rounds of high-dose chemotherapy, her stem cells were harvested, four surgeries including a surgery to remove her tumor, and on September 4th 2007, she spent 24 days in BMT. Hope, who also received 12 cycles of radiation, was then enrolled into the CH14.18 antibody study. She completed six rounds of anti-bodies and completed six months of 13-cis Retinoic Acid, a take-home chemo. Hope finished her last treatment on May 18th, 2008.
It has been a long 13 months, but Hope is cancer free. We will continue to have scans every three months for years to come. Our fight is not over, but we are winning the war.
